You Can Put To Use Immediately!
Dear
Fisherman,
If you're
reading this letter we know you're interested in learning more about Fly
Fishing and we're happy to have you aboard!
Congrats on
your first step...Seeking Knowledge is Powerful!
Before we tell
you how we think you should learn about Fly Fishing...Let us tell you
how not to learn.
In order to do
that, first we've got to tell you a story...
Ever
been so damn frustrated with fly fishing that you wanted to bust that
rod over your knee?
Tell
me if this story sounds familiar...
It's the night
before your long-awaited fly fishing trip...
You've been
getting ready for this trip for weeks...You've done all your
research...You know what flies are currently hatching and you've spent
hours upon hours in front of your vice tying the perfect flies.
You may even
feel a little guilty as time that you could have spent with the family
you've spent in your cave tying away...getting prepared for
opening day on your favorite stream.
You're gear is
all packed and in the truck and your lunch is already made...keeping
cool in the fridge.
You go to bed
that night but for some reason you can't seem to sleep. You roll around
tossing back and forth like a fish out of the water.
It seems a
million or more thoughts keep poking through your head.
You wonder if
you packed everything...You worry that someone else will get to your
favorite hole before you do....You worry that you'll oversleep your
alarm...
Finally, it's
o-dark thirty in the morning and you're laying there wide awake...You
can't sleep. You look at the clock and realize you've got to get
up in only a few hours. You say to yourself...."Looks like
I'll have to make the coffee extra strong in the mornin'...".
Then you realize...It is mornin'....Dammit...If only I could just fall
asleep!!!
Then
you being a God Fearin' man decide to say a quick prayer to God and ask
him to help you settle down and get some sleep.
Finally, after
relaxing your body and mind you drift off to sleep.
Next thing you
know...Your alarm abruptly pulls you out of your slumber....You
grudgingly turn it off and jump out of the bed quickly so you won't be
tempted to hang in the towel for the day.
So, you get up
and get yourself ready...You notice that it started raining last night
just like the weather man predicted...You were hoping it'd stay dry for
another day but after all this is Spring.
You kiss your
sweetheart goodbye and she wishes you good luck as she hands you your
lunch...You say, thanks as you head out the door...
She's a good
woman and you sure are thankful to have her to come home to.
You smile as
you walk away and think...Man sure would be nice to bring supper home to
her tonight...Otherwise, you figured you could just stop by the take and
bake pizza place on your way home.
But man...You
really wanted to fry up some trout in a pan of hot butter along with
some salt and pepper.
So, you jump
into your rig and crank er' up...It's a little cold this Spring mornin'
so ya let the truck warm up a few minutes while you check again that you
have everything you need for the day.
You've already
got your waders on and your vest is sittin' there in the front seat
fully stocked with everything you'll need for the day.
You
feel like you're a soldier getting ready to go on a mission...
So, you pull
out of the driveway and meet up at the cafe in town with your fishin'
buddies...As you pull up there you realize you're the only one there...
Finally about
5 minutes later you notice your buddies rig pulling up in the parking
lot. You get out and as you're talking your other buddy pulls up
and said, "Sorry he's late...He forgot his rod and had to go back
home to get it...".
Since you know
you won't be the only ones out there today you figure you better get out
there as soon as possible...It's still dark outside so even though you
had to wait a few minutes...You're not doing too bad.
You finally
make it out to the fishin' hole and are happy that you're the first ones
there...No other rigs were parked around there so you figure today's
going to be an awesome day...
You're going
to have the place to yourselves...The place is a little secluded and
only a place that a few of the locals even know about.
It's just a
short hike down the bank to this secret hole...
Finally, you
make it down to the hole and start rigging your rod for the first cast.
There's plenty
of room along the bank for your friends to spread out but one of your
friends decides he wants to fish in the same area where you are.
You grudgingly
say okay...
You hadn't
even gotten your line wet yet and you hear one of your buddies further
down the bank yell, "Fish On"...Yeehaaw!
You say,
"damn...I gotta hurry"...
Finally...
you start casting to this hole but seem to have a hard time with
it...You're not sure what the hell you're doing...
Your buddy
that's closest too you looks over there at you and smiles...
As you watch
him cast, you notice that at least he's able to get his fly out in the
strike zone.
So, you start
mimicking his actions and although uncomfortable at first you start
getting the hang of it...
Your buddies
keep catching the fish and you haven't got the first bite yet!
As the morning
goes on you become more and more frustrated. You've tried just
about all of the flies you've taken with you and nothing seems to be
working...
Finally, in
the late morning the fishing seems to die off so you all decide to go
back to the truck to eat your lunch.
You're just
thankful that the rain stopped so at least you didn't get soaking wet
out there.
Your buddy
that was fishing closest to you offers up some advice on how to improve
your casting as he's noticed you've been struggling...
He
says,
"You've
been working your rod way too hard...Let the rod work for you and not
the other way around."
You say
"Thanks" and keep eatin...
Another one of
your buddies asks what flies you've been trying...You tell him and he
says to try a different one or maybe one a little bigger or smaller.
You explain to
him that you've been doing this but for some strange reason that fish is
still eluding you.
Just before
you're about to head back down to the bank another of your buddies says
maybe your leader is too thick and maybe you're scaring the fish.
Finally,
once your done eating you feel like the little kid in school who's
always gettin' picked on...
You suggest
heading back down to the bank for some more fishin...
So you get
back down there and notice the fish aren't rising anymore...So you
think...Hmmm...Maybe a streamer might do the trick now.
So you tie one
on and fish with it most of the afternoon.
After many bad
casts and smirks from your buddies you finally feel a little relief as
you feel a slight tug on the line...You go ahead and give it a jerk but
damn you just broke the tippet! Must have got hooked on a rock or
something.
So, after 20
more minutes trying to remember the knots to use, you finally get rigged
up again with another wet fly...
Your first
cast and what happens...You send your fly right into the bushes across
the river...
Dammit!
You holler...Then one of your buddies say's I told you, you're casting
too hard.
You figure
streamers must be bad luck so you go back to dry's...
As the hours
of the afternoon pass your buddies keep hollering "Fish On
!!!!"
With each
burst of excitement you sink further and further into depression.
It's just
about time to get home as it's starting to get dark outside and you're
ready to go as your wrist, arm and elbow are sore from all the casting.
Finally,
On
your final drift you notice a spash and feel a tug on the line...
You
yell..."Fish On!!!"...He's hooked good! You know
for sure that this isn't a rock this time as you saw the bright streak
of silver and splash of water.
Your buddy
brings in his line and grabs the net to help you net him...
You get him
over near the bank and notice that he's a good 14" Rainbow Trout!
Just as your
buddies about to net him.....He spooks and sure enough...He's gotten off
your line.
You weren't
sure what to do....All you could say was Dammit Jim...What the heck
happened? Your buddy felt really bad for losing your fish for ya
and apologized but you were still steaming mad.
If it wasn't
enough to go through all what you went through that day and then have
your buddy lose the fish for ya because of bad netting....
You
were about to take your rod and just throw it or bust it over your knee!
Then you take
a deep breath and shake your head.
You gather the
rest of your gear and walk back to the truck.
You have this
sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach and although you like pizza
you're a little saddened to have to bring one home tonight.
You really
wanted that fish and after all day fishing for him you finally had one
on...No, it wasn't enough for both of you at home but you figured one is
at least better than none!
Finally, you
make it home and as you open the door your woman is standing there with
a big smile on her face and asks how you did.
You show her
the pizza and she say's, "oh"...Then you go on to explain to
her all that happened that day...She feels sorry for you as she knows
how much you enjoy fishing.
You just tell
her, there'll be another day...
Later on that
evening you're browsing on the internet and came across a website much
like the one you're reading right now...
You read where
you can Get over 101 Fly Fishing Tips...All from Expert Fly
Fishing Instructors and Guides!
You
figure with a day like you've had, you can't go wrong...You'll do just
about anything to improve your fly fishing skills!
So, you decide
to fork over a few dollars and in only a couple of minutes your reading
about how not to cast so hard and how accuracy is more important than
distance.
You read about
how not to switch flies as often as you were...
You read about
how to approach the water and not scare the fish away...
You read about
fishing etiquette and how to fish when your fishing with
others...
And then you
come across this tip that talks all about how to net a fish without
spooking it...
You shake your
head with disgust and only wish you or your buddy knew this one earlier
in the day.
You realize
that there really is a lot to be learned from these tips and you're
happy that you were able to purchase them.
You value this
new guide as your secret weapon.
You just know
that the next time you go fishing...
"Your
buddies jaws will be dropping as you show them how to catch fish...Not
the other way around."
If
you're wondering...
The
story you just read was based on a true story.
I'm
sure that whether you've been fishing all your life or only
for a few days, you can associate with a lot of the things
this poor guy went through that day...
So
now, let me tell you how not to learn...
You
don't learn how to fly fish by listening to 4 of your
buddies tell you 4 different things.
When
you do, you're likely to tie your fingers in a knot! As good
as they are (or think they are), it doesn't mean they're the
best teachers.
Often times
well meaning friends can steer you the wrong direction resulting in you
picking up some bad habits that may be hurting your game.
If you're looking to start fly-fishing
(and
you want to be successful) - you're better to go out on your own
and seek expert advice from people who DO know the best
tips, tricks, and tactics... and people who DO know how to
teach you.
However,
maybe this doesn't apply to you...
Maybe
you're an expert already and have enjoyed much success with
your fly fishing. I'm sure you'll agree with me then
that the more knowledge you have the better of a fisherman
you can be.
"Even
if your cast is a little awkward And Less Than Effective At the
moment... when you add 101 expert fly fishing tips, tricks, and
techniques to your game...You'll be ready to land fish left and
right!"
...While
your friends pick their dropped jaws out of the water.
When
you're on the water and you see other anglers (with there
expensive equipment) who seem to know what they're doing,
how are you going to feel when you unleash your awkward
cast?
The
best thing you can do to make sure you hit the water running
(and landing fish like crazy) is to practice your cast at
home. But not just by standing in your front lawn and waving
the rod back and forth.
If
you want to learn, first you need to know exactly how the
pros do it. (Is your fly fishing buddy a pro?) And then
there are tricks you can use to turn you backyard into the
perfect practice range for your cast!
You
see, expert fly fishermen were once beginners too. And they
know the best way to go from total rookie, to an expert
angler others watch in awe!
"If
you're looking to knock your friends' smirks off their face
when they see How your new fly fishing techniques Help You land fish
after fish, then I've got something you should know about."

How
would you like to have the convenience of listening to the recorded
audio version of the 101 Fly Fishing Tips For Beginners ebook?
I've taken the
time to record all of the tips and bonus tips for you on MP3.
There's over 97
Minutes of recordings in total.
You can listen
to these tips in your car on your way to work, from your computer while
relaxing at home, from your CD player or however you choose...Perhaps
even on the way to your favorite fishing hole!
I've split the
recording in convenient 10 minute segments so if you only want to listen
to a portion at a time, you may do so.
We've made it
possible for you to download the MP3 files to your computer or for your

reading.
